Boat Purchase Financing Options
Purchasing a boat is an exciting prospect, but financing it can be a bit more complex than buying other types of property or goods. When considering how to finance your boat purchase, there are typically three main options available. Let’s explore these in more detail.
1. Paying with Your Own Funds
If you're fortunate enough to have the necessary funds available, paying for your boat upfront is the simplest and most straightforward option. However, even in this case, there are a few steps to consider. Typically, when you decide to purchase a boat, an advance payment is required as part of the order process, the deposit payment is forwarded to the Beneteau shipyard and registered to the customer. The exact percentage of this advance depends on the specific boat model you wish to purchase.
Once the advance is paid, the company you are working with—such as Ultra d.o.o.—will send you a sale contract. This serves as confirmation of your order and as a receipt for the advance payment, the sale contract also defines the right and the obligations the customer and the authorized dealer have during the purchasing process. The remaining balance will be due when the boat is ready for delivery, which is when it has been fully prepared by the Benita Shipyard in France. This final payment is necessary to facilitate the delivery of your sailboat to its designated destination.
2. Leasing or Hire Purchase Options
If paying in full upfront isn't an option for you, another popular way to finance a boat purchase is through leasing or hire purchase agreements. These options allow you to enjoy the boat while making regular payments over time, rather than paying the entire amount at once. In Croatia, several financial institutions and leasing companies offer these services, often with flexible terms to suit your budget and preferences.
Leasing is a particularly attractive option for those who don’t want to commit to full ownership of the boat right away, as it often allows for lower monthly payments. Additionally, at the end of the leasing term, you may have the option to purchase the boat outright or upgrade to a newer model.
Leasing condition depends on the bank / Leasing you will work with. Ultra Sailing is here to help with advises and right contact.

3. Bank Loans
Another financing option is obtaining a bank loan. Many banks in Croatia provide loans specifically designed for boat purchases, with terms and conditions that can vary depending on the lender. The advantage of taking out a bank loan is that you can spread the cost of the boat over a longer period, making it more affordable on a monthly basis. However, you will need to meet the bank’s requirements, including credit checks and financial assessments, to qualify for this type of loan.
Bank loans typically offer more favorable interest rates compared to other financing options, but it’s important to carefully compare the terms and ensure that the repayment schedule fits within your financial plan.
